Telehealth adoption relies on good communications
Updated: Apr 26
Fantastic to see the use of telehealth ramping up, providing the community with access to the health care they need, when they need it. It's important to remember though, that engaging with a Doctor or health professional via a phone or video consultation can be a strange concept for many people in our community, and they may have concerns about using it.
If you have responsibility for establishing telehealth services, think about including some of the below information in your communications to patients:
▹ provide guidance on the type of device and connection they need to use for the consult ▹ share an example of what will happen during the consult
▹ provide information to address privacy and security concerns.
By preparing patients for the online consult in advance, it's possible to remove some of the uncertainty they feel and increase the likelihood of adoption.
